Frequently Asked Questions

The questions below come from the issues and requests we hear most often from TrackMyStack users. If you do not see your answer here, you can always contact us.

Assets and Prices

Finding assets, understanding price updates, and fixing valuation issues.

I cannot find the stock, mutual fund, ETF, crypto, or pension fund I am looking for

We support a large range of assets from many exchanges, but coverage can never be complete. If search does not return what you need, try the ticker, full name, exchange name, and ISIN.

Some assets are listed under a different exchange suffix or naming format, especially mutual funds, regional listings, and pension funds. If you still cannot find it, send us the ticker or ISIN through the app or from the website and we will review it.

The prices are not updating or are wrong

If a price looks stale or incorrect, try clicking the refresh button or reopening the app.

If the value still looks wrong, please contact us with the asset name, ticker, exchange, and ideally a screenshot.

How often do prices update?

Prices update once per day after the market closes (end-of-day pricing). Premium subscription unlocks real-time intraday pricing for supported assets, so you can see live market movement during the trading day.

Not every asset class updates on the same schedule. Mutual funds and certain regional instruments may update later than exchange-traded funds. Manual assets only update when you edit them.

Why does my portfolio show the wrong currency or mix currencies?

Each portfolio can use its own currency, and TrackMyStack converts values into your chosen portfolio currency for totals and charts. If numbers look inconsistent, check both the portfolio currency and the asset currency you used when adding the holding.

This matters most for foreign holdings, commodities, and UK-listed assets where price units can be easy to misread. If a total still looks off after checking the currency settings, contact us and we will investigate.

My asset values did not change, but my overall net worth shows a gain or loss. Why?

If your assets are in a foreign currency, their value may not have changed, but due to the currency conversion to your portfolio currency, the total can still fluctuate with exchange rates.

How are dividends tracked?

TrackMyStack can show paid and upcoming dividends for supported assets and can summarize recent dividend history in the app. Dividend coverage depends on the asset and data source, so some holdings may show incomplete or delayed information.

If a dividend amount looks wrong, include the asset, exchange, and the expected per-share amount when you contact us. That is especially helpful for cases where a market quotes dividends in pence or cents while the app is expected to show pounds or dollars.

How are stock splits handled?

The app currently does not adjust holdings for stock splits, so if you had 100 shares and there was a 2-for-1 split, you would need to manually update your holding to 200 shares. We are planning to add automatic split adjustments in a future update.

Portfolio Management

Recording holdings correctly and understanding what your totals mean.

How do I record buying more shares or selling an asset?

TrackMyStack is built around updating your holdings rather than connecting directly to a broker. If you buy more, update the position using the app's valuation or cost-basis flow. If you sell, reduce the holding or archive it once you are done tracking it.

The exact fields depend on the asset type and tracking mode, so stock positions, manual assets, and liabilities do not all behave the same way. If you are unsure which input to use, contact us and tell us what you are trying to record.

What is the difference between archived and deleted assets?

Archived assets are hidden from your main view but their historical data is preserved. Deleted assets are permanently removed along with their history.

Archiving is usually the better option if you sold a holding and still want to keep its historical contribution to your portfolio.

How do I exclude a portfolio from net worth?

Open the portfolio settings and toggle the option that excludes it from net worth. This is useful for watchlists, experimental portfolios, or anything you want to track without affecting your main total.

What does 'Since Start' mean on the dashboard?

'Since Start' compares your current value to the earliest tracked point in the selected history for that portfolio or dashboard view.

If you want period-based analysis, use the time-range controls in the app for views like 1W, 1M, 6M, YTD, 1Y, or MAX.

Why do some assets show as 'Unknown' in allocation analysis?

Allocation analysis depends on the metadata available for each asset. Manual assets and some less common funds may not have enough sector, region, or asset-type data to classify them perfectly.

If a widely known ETF or fund appears in the wrong bucket, send us the asset details and we will review the categorization.

How do I delete a portfolio?

Open the portfolio you want to remove, go to its settings, and choose delete. This action is permanent, so archive or export your data first if you may want the history later.

Data, Sync, and Security

Backing up your data, linking devices, and protecting access to the app.

Can I connect my bank, brokerage, or crypto exchange accounts?

No. TrackMyStack is privacy-first and does not connect to your bank or brokerage accounts. You enter your holdings yourself, which means your account credentials are never shared with us or with third-party aggregators.

Can I import holdings from a CSV or sync directly from a broker?

Direct broker sync is not currently available. We also do not currently offer a general CSV or file import flow for bringing in holdings from another app or broker.

For now, holdings need to be entered manually. If import support is important for your workflow, feel free to message us because it is one of the most requested improvements.

How do I back up my data and move to a new device?

You can export your data as a JSON backup or as an Excel file from the app's export screen. To move to a new device, you have three options:

  • Recovery email - set a recovery email in the app, then log in with that email on your new device.
  • Sync code - copy the sync code from your current device and enter it on the new device to link your account.
  • QR code - display a QR code on one device and scan it with the other to pair them instantly.

We recommend setting a recovery email and exporting a backup before switching phones. If you already lost access, contact us with any backup files or recovery email you still have.

How do I sync with the web app?

You can link the web app to your mobile account using any of the three methods above: recovery email, sync code, or QR code. Open the login screen on the web app and choose the method that matches what you set up on your phone.

How do I set up a PIN, Face ID, or biometric lock?

TrackMyStack supports biometric authentication on supported devices, including fingerprint and face-based unlock methods. Open the app's account or security settings and enable the protection option available on your device.

If biometrics stop working after an app or phone update, disable and re-enable the setting first. If the problem continues, contact us with your device model and app version.

Subscriptions and Billing

Premium access, restore purchases, and billing questions.

My subscription is active but Premium is not showing in the app

Start by opening the subscription screen in the app and using restore purchases. On mobile devices, TrackMyStack can re-check your active purchase with the App Store or Google Play account tied to that device.

If Premium still does not appear after restore, contact us and include your platform, subscription type, and whether the store itself shows the subscription as active.

Do you offer a one-time purchase or lifetime deal?

Currently we offer recurring subscription plans rather than a lifetime purchase. Check the app for the latest pricing and available plans, or contact us if you have a billing question.

How can I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. Cancel from your device's subscription settings and your Premium access will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Export and Reporting

Taking your data out of the app and keeping a personal copy.

How do I export my data?

Open the export screen in the app and choose either JSON backup or Excel export. JSON includes all your portfolios and settings and can be used to restore your data. Excel gives you a spreadsheet of your holdings that you can open in any spreadsheet app.
