Advanced Investment Tracking: Introducing Granular Control with Portfolio Tags and Ownership Settings
Effective investment tracking requires tools that move beyond simple aggregation. To truly understand your financial position, you need the ability to dissect, categorize, and accurately value your assets according to your own strategic criteria. Our latest update to TrackMyStack introduces powerful new features for granular analysis, alongside significant workflow enhancements designed to make managing your portfolio faster and more efficient.
A New Dimension of Analysis with Portfolio Tags
While organizing by account (e.g., SIPP, ISA, Brokerage) is fundamental, it limits cross-portfolio analysis. Our new Tags feature allows you to apply a flexible layer of metadata across all your portfolios, enabling you to create consolidated views that match your strategic goals.
- Tax-Based Organization: Create tags like
Taxable
,Tax-Deferred
, andTax-Free
to instantly see a breakdown of your net worth by tax treatment. This is invaluable for strategic withdrawal planning. - Liquidity Tracking: Use tags such as
Liquid
,Semi-Liquid
, andIlliquid
to get an immediate, real-world view of your ability to deploy capital or cover unexpected expenses. - Goal-Oriented Views: Link your capital to its purpose by tagging accounts with labels like
Retirement
,University Fund
, orProperty Deposit
to monitor progress towards your life goals.
Precision Tracking with Portfolio Ownership
A common error in net worth calculation is the failure to account for partial ownership or future liabilities. The Portfolio Ownership setting corrects this by allowing you to specify the percentage of a portfolio that should be included in your total net worth calculation.
- Jointly Held Assets: For a shared account with a spouse or business partner, you can set your ownership to 50% (or any other figure) to ensure your personal net worth is calculated with precision.
- Accounting for Future Tax Liability: This feature can be used for sophisticated post-tax planning. For a SIPP or other tax-deferred retirement portfolio, you know the full balance isn’t your final take-home amount. By anticipating a future tax rate of, say, 20%, you can set the ownership percentage to 80%. This adjusts the portfolio’s contribution to your net worth, giving you a more realistic, after-tax estimate of your wealth today.
Enhanced Workflow Efficiency: New Shortcuts and Controls
While the app’s core layout remains consistent, we have introduced a host of quality-of-life improvements designed to reduce clicks and save you time. The focus is on providing direct access to common functions where you need them most.
- Direct Portfolio Management: You no longer need to navigate to a separate portfolio page to make changes. From the main Dashboard, you can now instantly rename, edit settings, or access other actions directly from the list view.
- Effortless Asset Reallocation: Moving an asset between portfolios is now significantly faster. From a portfolio’s asset list, you can now initiate a transfer to another portfolio without ever leaving the page, streamlining rebalancing tasks.
- Intuitive Drag-and-Drop Reordering: We’ve replaced clunky dialogs with a modern drag-and-drop interface for reordering your portfolios on the dashboard and assets within a portfolio. This makes customizing your view faster and more intuitive.
These updates are designed to empower serious investors with deeper analytical power and greater operational speed, creating a more robust and efficient platform for managing your entire financial picture.
